As a proudly neurodiverse designer, I am passionate about seeing my peers embrace their unique processing styles.
I currently offer two workshops which ask: how might our collective practice be enhanced by embracing the diversity within our teams? Both of these are suitable for designers and students and have successfully been delivered to audiences including Snook, DesignIt and Loughborough University. See below for details.

UNDERSTANDING OUR DYSLEXIA
A whopping 30% of people working in the creative industry are dyslexic. But for so many of us our understanding of that label is extremely limited. Without a proper understanding of your dyslexic processing style, it’s easy to assume that the struggles you face are rooted in weakness and worse, that you have nothing remarkable to offer.
This interactive workshop takes a deep dive into the theory that some of the greatest minds of the 20th century were brilliant not despite their dyslexia, but because of it. Together we will explore Drs Brock and Fernette Eide’s 4 dyslexic strength patterns and how they complement the practice of user centred design.

WORKING WITH HUMAN BEINGS
Group working is powerful. It increases our capacity to navigate pits and troughs, fosters creativity and expands our understanding. And yet, for students and professionals alike, working in a team can be a painful and limiting experience. So often, where group working should increase our capacity – it reduces it.
This creative workshop poses that the thing that makes group working difficult is the very same thing that makes it magic – our diversity. Using play based techniques, teams explore: How might we function more effectively as a team by fostering an understanding of and respect for our differences?
